In this piece, I interact with the public through a series of copies from four blank connect the dots sheets. Each ghost image reveals both a figure, as well as text that overlaps between the pieces. Over the course of a day, I set up series of piles of these blank worksheets, each with a writing implement, as seen in the photos attached. None were returned filled, and the only proof I received of human interaction with the piece was the scuffed imprint of a patron’s boot upon series image 2 (last slide). Untitled (11/18/25) is about my reality of safety as a queer man- that even in an American city that promotes itself as a “safe space” for LGBTQ+ people, my identity is something I rarely share about. To most people I interact with, it comes more as a series of “connect-the-dots” that may build a map of who I am or am not. Like Untitled (11/18/25), this map is incredibly intricate. On the occasion a patron may connect it, it’s most likely that the image built will be constructed "incorrectly" and in the image of themself, not of me. Untitled (11/18/25) suggests that you pick up a pencil, and consider what information those around you share willingly about themselves.
